ORGAN PIPE CORAL
Moderately common on shallow reefs. Extensive hemispherical
masses of purple tubes joined by horizontal sheets, small polyps
with green, brown, or light gray tentacles and short pinnules, disc small and
flat, retracted polyps appear as white buds. Red Sea to Okinawa,
Micronesia, and the Solomon Islands. |
