Rare in dry forest from Puna to Ka'upulehu on the island of Hawaii.  Threatened due to grazing or habitat loss due to urban development, volcanic activity.

Pleomele auwahiensis   

Kanaio, Maui

MAUI HALAPEPE

Scattered in dry or mesic forest of leeward Maui & Moloka'i.
