Inhabits reefs from 15 to 300 feet.  Juveniles yellow, males blue-gray with bulbous head, yellow bar on side.  Attains 30 inches.  Baja California to Chile, Galapagos.

Common in kelp beds and rocky reefs.  Cleans parasites from other fishes.  To 10 inches.  Central California to Central Baja.
