WHITEMARGIN UNICORNFISH
Formerly rare in very deep water along dropoffs where it feeds upon zooplankton,
they have been seen more freqently deeper than 20 feet since 2020.
Olive or gray with white fin margins, caudal fin with triangular white
tips, adults with alternating black and white membranes, juveniles with
white trailing edge and white band on caudal peduncle, old adults with an extremely long
horn directly ahead of the eyes. Attains 40 inches.
East Africa to Okinawa, Hawai'i, and French Polynesia. |
