ROUGH-SCALE or PRICKLY SOLDIERFISH
A shy but fairly common species that emerges from deep holes at
night. Plump with large eyes set far forward allowing binocular
vision. Difficult to approach or photograph. Attains 10 inches but
usually much less. Hawai'i, the Indo-Pacific, and offshore islands of
the Tropical Eastern Pacific.
