Honolulu Fish Auction

Inhabits open ocean depths from 150 to 3000 feet, migrating toward the surface to feed on zooplankton at night.  Armor-like scales, white margin on caudal fin, plate-like ribs.  Indo-Pacific.  Landed as bycatch by tuna longline vessels.  Excellent eating, with oily light flesh.  Attains 24 inches & 24 pounds, 8 years.
