Rarely seen in Hawai'i attached to large animals or freely swimming about the reef.  The most likely remora to attach itself to people.  Gray with black and white stripes.  Attains 44 inches but usually much less.  Warm seas worldwide.  Echeneis neucratoides has fewer sucker disc plates and may be restricted to the Western Atlantic.
