Milkfish

 

The Milkfish is a robust but streamlined fish with a single dorsal fin and deeply forked tail.  The mouth is located at the tip of the snout and is relatively small.  It feeds upon fine algae and invertebrates filtered from sediments and is tolerant of brackish water.  Milkfish are found throughout the Indo-Pacific and are often raised in aquaculture.

Reaches at least 5 feet in length.  Occasional along reefs and in bays.  Often used for making fishcake.
