Inhabits deeper sand flats where it
remains buried with just the eyes exposed. It prefers featureless
areas where divers rarely venture in Hawai'i but are common in murky bays
around Japan. Slender with a blunt head, bulging eyes set high and far
forward, and several blue stripes. Attains 13 inches.
Indo-Pacific, including Hawaii. Separated from Trachinocephalus
myops which is the Atlantic form. |
