WHITEBARRED or BANDED GOBY

Common on sand in lagoons and mangroves.  Color variable, typically with vertical bars and white lines or dots, black spot at upper corner of gill opening, first dorsal fin, and upper lobe of caudal fin.  Attains 6 inches.  Indonesia to French Polynesia, excluding Hawai'i.
