Abundant on shallow reefs.  Adults are gray with yellowish scale centers on head & back, scattered blue dots & lines; juveniles yellow with blue spots scattered across entire body, no black spot on caudal peduncle.  Attains 4 inches.  Maine south to Brazil & West Africa.
