WHITETAIL CHROMIS
|
A small
skittish species found in small groups among rubble and ledges deeper than 80
feet where it feeds upon zooplankton. Dark brown with blue fin
margins, white caudal peduncle, transparent tail, black and yellow spot at
pectoral fin base, and yellow pelvic fins, juveniles are blue-gray. Attains 2.5 inches. Spotty
distribution includes Hawai‘i, the Marquesas, New Caledonia, Okinawa,
Sumatra, Mauritius, and Reunion. |
