Small schools are locally common in shallow water.
Silvery with prominent yellowish-brown lines on the head, gill opening
and body. Differs slightly from the Bermuda
Chub, with brighter lines, 13-14
soft dorsal and 12-13 soft anal rays, and a straight line drawn along
the anal fin margin passes slightly through the upper caudal lobe.
Attains 27 inches. Massachusetts to Brazil and the Gulf of
Mexico. |
