Fairly common but skittish inhabitant of deep lagoons and reef dropoffs to
130 feet. Feeds upon coral polyps. On the central body the black scales have
white centers and white scales have
dark edges, compared to solid black and white scales in
H. monoceros. Attains 12 inches. Andaman Sea to Southern Japan and Samoa. |
