Family Toxotidae
Archerfishes
Archerfishes inhabit coastal waters and estuaries of Southeast Asia
and the Tropical Pacific. They float just below the surface and
capture insect prey on overhead vegetation by spitting a stream of water
to dislodge them. Some species may be able to hit targets as far
as 10 feet away. |
