Kewalo Pipe, South Shore, O'ahu

Abandoned sewer pipe that served the tuna cannery that closed in the mid-1980's.  The seaward portion from 40 to 60 feet is covered with rich coral and invertebrate life and numerous reef fishes.  A healthy coral reef extends west to the entrance of Honolulu Harbor at 50 feet.  Sand and rubble flats nearby feature Helmet shells, Pebble collector urchins, Flounder, and Cowfishes.  A popular shallow site visited by most south shore dive operators.
