Rare in Hawaii on sheltered reefs as encrusting sheets or plates.  Golden brown with white margins, some colonies with bright purple polyps.  Calices not elevated, more or less surrounded by tiny rods, with a less rugged surface than the abundant Montipora patula.  Hawaii and the Indo-Pacific.
